A Wedding to Remember at an American Castle...
Plan your special day amidst the beautiful formal gardens and historic architecture of Salisbury House, one of Iowa's most historic mansions. The splendor of flagstone terraces and glorious Tudor arches will provide a memorable setting for you to begin your life together.
Small, intimate weddings can be held in several locations throughout 
the house. The ideal setting for an indoor wedding is the Common Room, with the Great Hall as a receiving room. The south doors of the Great Hall open to the expanse of the south lawn and formal gardens a favorite setting for outdoor weddings.
Several tiers of steps lead down to a lush, green yard with enough room to accommodate up to 300 guests. Couples can chose to hold the wedding facing the House while standing on the steps, or facing away from the house and towards the natural backdrop of towering oak trees.
In addition to the south lawn, the east side of Salisbury House also features a grassy terrace where a smaller wedding of 100-150 guests can take place.
There are other locations on the grounds for wedding ceremonies, including a visitor's center that opens up onto a cobblestone courtyard, and the circular drive that leads to the main entrance of Salisbury House.
Built by the Weeks family in the 1920's, the Salisbury House is a castle fit for a royal wedding. the house was styled after the King's House in Salisbury, England, hence the name, Salisbury House. It's an elegant building, and its setting is equally beautiful. Situated on a rise of ten acres in the heart of Des Moines and surrounded by stately oaks, green gardens and virgin woodlands, Salisbury House seems to transport visitors away to a great English manor house and estate.
